Mark McKenna, accepting for Austin.

The Rio Colorado Chapter 99s were happy to be able to award $12,000.00 in Scholarships to three applicants this year! Austin McKenna recently began professional training at ATP in Carlsbad, CA. His goal is to get his multi engine, instrument, commercial, and CFMEII to become employable as a pilot.

Jay Sylvester has chosen 702 Helicopters out of Las Vegas to complete his training. His vision for his future is to be Pilot in Command of a Medical, or Search and Rescue Helicopter.

Jacob Mieding has the goal of being a skilled pilot for the armed forces. After high school, he plans to attend the University of Nevada to attain a bachelors in Physics, while being enrolled in the Air Force ROTC. We wish the best to all 3 of our scholarship recipients!

The Havasu 600 Air Race is loosely modeled on Claire Walter's "Palms to Pines" Air Race that was established in 1970 and ran for 40 years. Each year the race will start at a different location with a course of approximately 600 nm. The race will terminate each year in Lake Havasu, AZ.
Tookie Hensley was a charter member of the Rio Colorado 99s and our original Race Coordinator. Racing was a passion for Tookie and her husband Don. We are racing in their honor and memory, the Don and Tookie Hensley Memorial Race.
